Selective Hearing
Recently, I've noticed a dramatic shift in selection as to what people hear or perceive from our Lord. I’ve seen them picking out what they want to hear, choosing how they want to interpret it, and even worse, adding more to what was intended from personal or corporate prophecy. It sorely grieved me and I was led to prepare this teaching video entitled "Selective Hearing". It might appear to be a strange title for a teaching, but I believe you'll understand once you’ve viewed this video.
Many times our Lord uses words that have some other aspect or meaning to them than our normal every day language. For example, when the word ‘pregnant’ is used it can have several meanings. The word ‘pregnant’ can be interpreted as something or someone being pregnant with a message, a gift/calling or child. It may look like a real-life pregnancy but the spiritual aspect may have nothing to do with a real live baby. It would be easy to understand if there was misunderstanding or confusion even if such a prophecy like a pregnancy was given to a man seeing (knowing) that men are not able to bare children. There are many other words that have multiple meanings as well, however, with proper clarification we can dismiss these types of errors and misunderstandings. Let me remind you what the Lord spoke to us through His prophet of old,
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts”. Isaiah 55:8-9
It would be a great thing if someone would create a booklet of spiritual translations and interpretations for visions and dreams and in particular for personal or corporate prophecy. So much misunderstanding and confusion would be alleviated if one of our wise and studied brethren would do such a great service for our people. Until then, may this video "Selective Hearing" (our teaching regarding the embellishment of a prophetic word, reading into personal/corporate prophecy things that do not exist, as well as assumptions and presumptions) be of aid to you in dismissing erroneous and wild imaginations when you hear the Lord speaking to you.
