What Is Truth?
If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever– the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17
Who or what is the Spirit of truth? Jesus tells us that the Spirit of truth is to be our Helper. Most of us realize these titles are another name for the Holy Spirit, whom the world cannot receive or even see. Today the world seeks truth but will not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Even in the Body of Christ many are hung-up on worshipping the Book rather than the One the Holy Bible identifies as our living and speaking Lord.
In the verse above Jesus is recorded saying, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” It is difficult for a lot of Christians to get beyond the book; His commandments are still being delivered today. Many, including myself have received their calling from a chapter or verse from the Holy Scriptures. However, once you have accepted the high calling of our Lord a more personal relationship should follow. He may command you to go on radio, TV, carry a cross around the world or a number of other possibilities. Seeking His will for your ministry, job, business, family or any other area of life is a must to be a true follower of Christ. King Jesus says it all in the next two verses.
You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to me that you may have life. John 5:39,40
We are required to follow the Spirit of truth.
