Gifts By Grace
I always thought I knew what Grace was. However, over the past two years I have learned that I had little understanding regarding this wonderful gift from God. Now my eyes have been opened to it’s power and daily intervention in a believer’s life.
Most Christians do not see that Grace plays a huge part in the difference between the Old Testament and the New. Works in the Old Testament were required in order to have your sins forgiven. However, in the New Testament works is out, replaced by Grace. Through out the New Testament Apostle Paul is in constant conflict with the chosen disciples of Christ over the issue of works vs. Grace.
What I have discovered is that when we are into works we lose a measure of the blessings of God. Basically, God our Father wants to do more for us than what we can believe for. It is our nature to want to be in control of our lives through our works; striving to please God by our good deeds. Believe me, He is not impressed and is less apt to help us or even hear us while we attempt to move Him. The ONLY acceptable act of sacrifice He honors is what Jesus has done on Calvary. Anything we try to do to move or manipulate God actually angers Him. It is definitely in our best interest to simply embrace the fullness of what Christ our Lord has done for all of us and stop competing for God’s love. We will never walk in total freedom until we die to ourselves and allow Christ to live within us. This is the only way I know how to win the affection of our Heavenly Father. When you embrace His Grace all things begin to work for you instead of against you. Your blessings will no longer turn into curses. Only then will you experience the abundant life promised to all of us according to the gospel of John 10:10.
