You Are What You Believe
Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, When the Lord has not commanded it? Lamentations 3:37
Too many sermons puff us up making it easy to believe that we can say whatever we want and get it; as long as we say, “In the Name of Jesus.” These teachings that convey all we have to do is find a verse in the Bible and claim it for ourselves then we will have whatever we ask is NOT sound doctrine. The fact of the matter is, God will only allow you to have what He approves or chooses you to have and nothing more. The “Chiuahua Syndrome” is to believe that you are as big as the ‘Big Dog’. Well, we are not God and we cannot just bark out our commands and then Walla, presto we have what we ask. Believing that all we have to do is claim it in the name of Jesus is the same teachings as those who practice casting spells. Are you into practicing witchcraft?
You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. John 5:39,40
These two verses of Scripture I have used many times in various teachings. It still amazes me how many people worship the book rather than the One the book is about. As if you could go to the Holy Bible and find some hidden code that would unlock the secrets of the universe giving you ultimate power and prestige. The Pharisees are still among us today. Believing they have the knowledge, therefore, they have the power. Jesus makes it very clear that He is the life giving force, not the book. God can speak through the Bible just as He can through a word of prophecy; however, Jesus is still the Word of God.
