When Storms Come

What do you do when the storms of life come crashing down on your parade? Some people get angry with God or blame Him for their troubles, while others blame themselves every time something bad happens in their lives. Finally, there are those who seek His mercy and cry out for His help; this is the correct way to get the help you need from God.

There is a way to handle the storms of life. First we must find the reason for this “storm.” It could be a spiritual wake up call, like 9-11 was for many of us. Then again, it could be an instance where we are standing in the rain that falls on the just and unjust alike. (ref. Matthew 5:45) It is also true that if we sow corruption we will reap corruption. (ref. Galatians 6:7) However, we cannot assume that God is angry with us every time something negative takes place in our lives. This assumption can misguide us and draw even the strongest Christians into a spiritual melt down. There are a multitude of variables that we will look at more closely in this months DVD.

Once we have gained understanding as to why the storm has come into our lives, we must then search for God’s plan to clear the skies. This is where our doctrine will either help us or hurt us. One can not know if his or her doctrine is sound until facing an earth shattering problem. If our doctrine is solid, then we will weather the storm without stress and assured of where we stand with God.

Christians who believe that they will never have to “batten down their hatches”, BEWARE, because no one, not even the most seasoned Christian, gets through this life without weathering the storms. Take heed for there is a storm brewing on the horizon.
