What is the Difference?

What is the difference between the Old Testament Prophets and the New Testament Prophets? How can it be that the New Testament tells us that prophecy is for edification and exhortation? Yet the Old Testament Prophets seemed to always be condemning and prophesying doom.

But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. 1 Corinthians 14:3

I have listen to many teaching on the subject of the Old Testament Prophets vs. New Testament Prophets but none of them seem to answer this question. It has become a very confusing not knowing the difference between the two. However, after the Lord gave me the answer it became clear why their ministries "Old Testament prophet’s vs. New Testament prophet’s" differed from one another. Today we do not see anyone caring out the commandments of the Old Testament telling us to stone prophets who’s prophesies do not come to pass. Is this because we are just a disobedient people or is there really a difference?

Few people even realize that there is a huge difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament. If you do not understand the difference between the two testaments you cannot be established within a sound doctrine. However, if you know the difference between the two, you will find revelation throughout the Holy Bible. The verse below speaks volumes regarding this big difference.

This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Galatians 3:3
