God Knows our Needs

God Knows Our Needs
It is sometimes hard to believe that God would allow bad things to happen to good people, but it does happen and when trouble comes knocking at your door it is time to start seeking Him. When we begin to pray, we should not waste His time telling Him all that is wrong in our lives, but rather we should be asking for His guidance and direction.
Some 20+ years ago I was down to my last $10.00. I was praying telling God about the eviction notice I had received and that my electricity was scheduled to be turned off the next day. As I cried out to God over and over, telling Him of my problem, a verse of scripture came to mind.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33
These few words forever changed the way I pray. You see, at the same time I read this verse a thought came to me, “Go to Cornerstone Church for the men’s prayer breakfast.” I felt totally liberated; even though my circumstances had not changed I was at total peace. So, I got myself ready, put my last $10.00 worth of gasoline in my truck, and headed for this church some 45 miles away. I arrived early at the church and I met the pastor and told him what had happened while I was praying. There was a long pause and then the Pastor said, “Well maybe this is why I felt led to pick up this check this morning.” He said that the check was for a missionary who was passing through but had not stopped to pick up the check the church wanted give him. The Pastor indicated that the check was written out for $600.00; however, to whom it was to be paid was blank. So, he wrote in my name and gave me the check. It turned out that the check was just enough to bail me out until I could find another place to live. Jesus does know our needs.(more in this months DVD
