Dull of Hearing

Part 1 - Hear & Obey Or Go Your Own Way

Jesus is not dead. He is alive and he is speaking to you and me. The problem is that we have become dull of hearing. We have become so involved in what the world has to offer with all of its noise, its propaganda and its advertisements that it has become difficult to know God’s perfect will for each and every one of us. But one thing is clear that Jesus is alive and he is speaking to his church. How will we be able to know except there is one given to us (prophet) to be able to hear for us. I do not come to you as anything special or above anyone. I come simply to bring a message, the gospel truth, that Jesus is alive. I know this because Jesus speaks. He reveals through personal prophecy, things what only God would know because no other would know the person’s situation. By hearing a prophecy from a prophet, you will have the unction, the desire, to hear God for yourself.

How will we hear if we do not pray? And if we pray, how are we to pray? Jesus said, “My Will will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” How will we know what his will is in heaven unless we have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying? If you are born of the spirit then God is speaking spirit to spirit. The disciples said to Jesus, “Speak plainly, we do not understand for you speak in parables. Sayings that are confusing.” If the disciples who walked with him flesh to flesh, eye to eye and yet they could not comprehend what Jesus was saying, how much more difficult is it for you and me? We who are born of the spirit but must hear him who is spirit. It is a challenge. It is not something you can just begin to do. It has to happen to you. And when it happens to you, you will have a choice. You will have a choice of whether to hear and obey or to go your own way. It is not in our sacrifice or our works that God wants from us but it is in our obedience of what he wants us to do through each and every one of us. It is through obedience that all of the blessings of God comes to us. Were you not called by God to confess Him and his son as Lord and Savior? Was it not by the conviction of the Holy Spirit that you knew within yourself that you were a sinner? Yet you heard the gospel over and over again. It was only when the Holy Spirit came to you and spoke to you—that is when you have the choice. Do you go and give your life to Christ or keep it for yourself? When we come and give our lives to Christ, do we come back and take it back when everything is ok? When we were in trouble and came to Christ, he fixed our problem. Do you tell the Lord that now that everything is fine, you will take over from here? The only problem is that you will find yourself later in the same situation over and over again. His salvation will come over and over but our obedience will determine whether we receive the promises in the scripture.

Jesus said he did nothing by his own authority. He only did what he saw the Father do and spoke what the Father spoke. That is the Christian way! If you give your life to Christ that is what it is all about. You have made a contractual bond, a covenant, when you gave this miserable life in exchange for eternal life with Christ in a place with no tears, disease or pain. We cannot even comprehend what that place, heaven, is all about. But we do know that it is a much, much greater place than where we are now. Try to talk someone who is born of the spirit out of salvation and tell them there is no heaven. You can’t talk them out of it yet they have not seen heaven. They have not been there but they know because it is written in the tablets of their heart by the finger of God. They know they are marked to live eternity with Him. The problem is this life! Because we are in this yoyo experience in which we give it and we take it, we give it and we take it, we give it and we take it. If God ask us something we do not want to do, we take our lives back and want to do it our own way. Who’s life is it anyway? God said, “My servants will humble themselves and pray. Give yourself unto to me and watch what I shall do for you.” But you have to be willing to go all the way. No matter what! Most people today unfortunately want Christ only for prosperity, a mate and a fine life. That is not an exchange. You must give him this life for whatever he wants to do with it. It does not matter if you suffer in it because you will suffer in the name of Christ. The outcome is His. When He is through with it, it will be much better that you could have ever imagine for yourself. There are things He wants to bring out of us. There are things that He wants to strip from us. He wants to turn that mirror and let us see who we are for ourselves and how others look at us only to find ourselves becoming healed when we see who we really are that we may die of ourselves a little more today so that He can have His way.
