While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. Then one said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You." But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother." Matthew 12:46-50

Do you want to be brothers and sisters in Christ? This scripture is about Mary whom thousands worship yet Jesus says she is not following me. Wow, that is hard. It’s his own mother. Is it only mentioned in Matthew? Let’s look at Luke.

Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and could not approach Him because of the crowd. And it was told Him by some, who said, "Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see You." But He answered and said to them, "My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it." Luke 8:19-21

Obedience is better than sacrifice. Show me your faith with works and I will show you a faith that works. A faith that is true. A faith that is excessive and counts you as righteous like Abraham. These are whom God considers the true believers. To be a believer in Christ is not just to believe who he is. We already read in James that even the demons believed that he is the son of the living God. When Jesus started casting out demons out of the people and those evil spirits screamed out, “This is the son of the living God.” He said shut up. It is not my time to be revealed. They knew who he was but the Sadducees and the Pharisees who knew all the scriptures of the Old Testament did not know who Jesus was. Wow, something is really messed up here. You mean I can study the Bible and not really know who Jesus is? The Bible says it is so. It has happened. Not everyone but the majority didn’t even know who Jesus was.

And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!" But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!" Luke 11:27-28

I don’t know what it says in the Catholic Bible but I would really find that hard to read in the book of Catholicism. If I were Catholic, it would be hard for me to digest that word because Catholics worship Mary to a great degree. But Jesus is saying, “Hey, that isn't nothing. The whole thing is that I am here to show you the way, the truth and the light. The important thing is that whatever the Father tells you to do, do it because that is the only way you will be part of kingdom.” My brothers and my sisters greater requirements are made of us because we gave this life on earth to Christ. How many times have we given our lives to Christ in our time of need, only to take it away when everything was peachy king?
