The Will of God

Excerpt from Sunday Chat Line 04/28/02

God will soon be releasing doctrines and teachings that will tear us up like a new plow against hard ground. You might as well get ready for it. Remember that the truth will set you free. Everyone who is of truth hears His voice. Pontius Pilate asked, "What is truth?" The answer is in 1 John 5.

"This is He who came by water and blood-- Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth." I John 5:6

It says that the Holy Spirit is truth. If you will allow the Holy Spirit to teach you and to interpret what is written and spoken, you will have truth and you will be free. It is not some big mystical thing. It is something that is given to us as a gift. We may have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit but if we turn to our own reasoning, we will be in trouble. You still have to follow the Holy Spirit after you received Him. When you were baptized by the Holy Spirit, you did not suddenly become perfect. It is a continual walk. It is a daily walk. You must die to yourself daily. You die to your will and your thoughts and let God’s thoughts and His will be done in your life. A lot of times it doesn’t work out the way you want it to. A lot of time it is not going according to what you would like it to be. But always, once you have gone through it, you will look back and say, "I am glad I went through that. If I hadn’t gone through that I wouldn’t know what I know today. I wouldn’t be who I am today. And I wouldn’t be able to be doing what I am doing today."

God uses unworthy vessels. He uses broken vessels. A lot of you are broken. Paul said to bless the Lord in your abasement for you truly shall abound. It is like that old rubber ball theory. The harder you throw it on the ground the higher it will go up. The farther you are abased, the higher you will go up. Glory in your abasement because it is the measure of how far you are going up with the Lord. It is a measure of how far spiritually you are going to be able to have insight of the things He is doing. You will know Him through your hurting. We are closest to God when we are going through suffering. It is during that period of time when we are closest to God. It is not when we are sitting on the top of the hill. It is when you are in prison like Jim Baker that was when he got close to God. That is when he learned from God. Yet everybody idolized him when he was standing in a high place. They thought he had all the wisdom and all the knowledge and knew who God was. Jim Baker is here to tell you he was wrong. He doesn’t want to go through it again and I can understand why. But he is a better man for going through that experience. Our nation will also be better after it goes through God’s wrath. Each and every one of us will be better off if we will let God have His way through us.

Let us pray:
Father God, We thank you for your word and for revealing yourself. Lord God, help us to be able to understand your will, your purpose and your plan in our lives. Lord, let there not be anything that goes by us that we do not know what it is that you are up to. Lord, we know that you are in control and we know that there is nothing that is out from under your hand that you do not know about. Lord, you said in Amos 3:7 that you do nothing except that you reveal your secrets onto your prophets first. Let this house be knowledgeable of all the things that you are doing. In the hours and the days that are ahead of us, Lord, let us not go blindly, groping in darkness but gives us that light, the illumination, the revelation that we will know what is, "Thus saith the Lord". Father God, give us the insight to be able to read and to understand what is written; to hear and to understand what is spoken and to see and know that what we see is truly of you. And Lord, reveal what you are doing even when you are using your instrument, the devil. Lord, let us see what it is that you are up to. And Lord, purge us. Purge us quickly so that we may be prepared and ready to be able to help others go through the same purging process so that we can be used of you for your glory. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
