Do People Really Practice What They Believe?

"Doctrine is the necessary foundation of duty; if the theory is not correct, the practice cannot be right. Tell me what a man believes, and I will tell you what he will do." -- Tryon Edwards

For the past nine years we have painfully witnessed the truth of this statement; take 911 for example. Today, many still believe that the teachings of the Qur'an (Koran) are not the cause of these murderous acts. What do you believe?

He who hates, disguises it with his lips, and lays up deceit within himself; When he speaks kindly, do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart; though his hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness will be revealed before the assembly. Proverbs 26:24-26

PRINCE of PEACE

Jesus is the Prince of Peace and when you are walking in accordance with His plans peace rules no matter what you are going through. When there is chaos and turmoil you know the Prince of Peace is not blessing what you are attempting to do. However, when you are walking in His will a peace that surpasses all understanding and His grace abounds.

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

It's Not Enough to Hear God

I have said for years, "It's not enough to hear God, you must know what He means." Over the years people have told me they heard God and did exactly what He said and then found themselves in a bad situation. I don't doubt that they heard Him but they lacked understanding in what He meant. Even Jesus's disciples who walked Him and heard Him with their natural ears did not always know what He was saying. How much more difficult is for us who hear Him, Spirit to spirit, to interpret His meaning?

When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. Matthew 13:19

Healing for Today

There are three ways God heals those who are fighting terminal illness. One way is an out right miracle instantly removing the sickness. Another is by the skilled hands of a Doctor. Even Jesus had Luke, a physician, to follow Him as one of His disciples. The third and final way is that Jesus comes for you and takes you home to heaven where there is no sickness nor pain.

The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Surfing on HIS Wave of Grace

Once you have discovered that you are being carried by God's grace you realize that you have done nothing to have earned such divine favor. Riding on His wave of grace is like finding the proper balance on a surf board in order to take this free ride. All that is required to stay on the wave is to be very sensitive to the ever changing power that is carrying you. The wave only comes ever so often so be prepared and thankful that His provision is sufficient for your needs.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9

Engaged to be Married

Announcement: Rev. Kent Simpson and Debbie Mensay to be married October 10, 2010 in Oklahoma. Plans for services to be conducted by a Native American Indian.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. Ephesians 5:25-33

Calling Down Fire

Loose tongues and inappropriate language seems to be spreading everywhere these days. I recall a time not too long ago that if a man used foul language in the presence of a lady or child they were rebuked on the spot. Now days if you try and correct another's vulgar use of language you are considered to be out of line. There is a day coming not too far in the future all will have to do is call fire down from heaven and the conviction of the Holy Spirit will purge their hard hearts leading them to repent.

But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes" be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into judgment. James 5:12

True Leaders are Shepard's Not Spiritual Fathers

Our Lord calls men to shepherd His flock. But nowhere in the Scriptures does God call His people a herd. They are a flock, and the leaders are called shepherds. There is one distinctive thing about sheep: they cannot be driven. You can drive a herd of cattle but you cannot drive sheep. They must be led!

Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. Matthew 23:9,10

God's Will

Anxiety springs from the desire that things should happen as we wish rather than as God wills.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6

Be Brave and Not Deceived

I had a dream the other night, I didn't understand.
A figure walking through the mist, with flintlock in his hand.
His clothes were torn and dirty, as he stood there by the bed,
He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low, he said:
"We fought a revolution, to secure our liberty.
We wrote the Constitution, as a shield from tyranny,
For future generations, this legacy we gave,
In this, the land of the free and the home of the brave."

"The freedom we secured for you, we hoped you'd always keep.
But tyrants labored endlessly, while your parents were asleep.
Your freedom gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave,
In this, the land of the free and the home of the brave."
"You buy permits to travel, and permits to own a gun,
Permits to start a business, or to build a place for one.
On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent,
Although you have no voice in choosing how the money's spent."

"Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate.
Your Christian values can't be taught, according to the state.
You read about the current news, in a regulated press.
You pay a tax you do not owe, to please the I.R.S."
"Your money is no longer made of silver or of gold.
You trade your wealth for paper, so your life can be controlled.
You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God in shame,
You've taken Satan's number, as you've traded in your name."

"You've given government control to those who do you harm,
So they can padlo ck churches, and steal the family farm,
And keep the country deep in debt, put men of God in jail,
Harass your fellow countrymen, while corrupted courts prevail."
"Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oath they've sworn.
Your daughters visit doctors so their children won't be born.
Your leaders ship artillery and guns to foreign shores,
And send your children to slaughter, fighting other people's wars."

"Can you regain freedom for which we fought and died?
Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride?
Are there no more values for which you'll fight to save?
Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave?"
"Sons of the Republic, arise and take a stand!
Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land!
Preserve our great republic and each God-given right,
And pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright!"

As I awoke he vanished, in the mist from which he came.
His words were true, we are not free. We have ourselves to blame.
For even now as tyrants trample each God-given right,
We only watch and tremble, too afraid to stand and fi ght.
If he stood by your bedside, in a dream while you're asleep,
And wondered what remains of our rights he fought to keep,
What would be your answer, if he called out from the grave?

Is this still the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave?

Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. 1 Corinthians 15:33,34

THE ARMY OF GOD

The Only men who do not serve in some army are those who are ruled by someone else's army. Without power you must do as you are told. When you lay down your arms, it's not the saints that come marching in.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. Matthew 11:12

Give Your Troubles to JESUS

We as Christians should not stress over the problems that surface in our lives. Our Mediator is at the right hand of Almighty making intercession for you. When you were born again you made covenant with God giving your life over to Him in exchange for life without end in heaven. He has purchased you with His blood and you are not your own anymore. Therefore, the problems you face in this life are not your's but His and His alone. So let go and let God handle what you cannot fix. Pray and cast all your cares over to Him and trust in Him to make the repairs.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6,7

What More of God?

Most who profess to be a Christian have been baptized in water but there is more. Being baptized in water is a baptism of repentance or the baptism of John the Baptist but there is more. The baptism of Jesus is also referred to as the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The first baptism is symbolic to dying to your worldly ways and being raised as a new person. The baptism of Jesus is a baptism of power imparting a spiritual gift within you and giving you power to overcome Satan.

And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John's baptism." Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Now the men were about twelve in all. Acts 19:1-7

Searching for Truth

Agnosticism doubts truth. Rationalism questions truth. Infidelity scoffs at truth. Logic dissects truth. Education searches for truth. But Jesus said, "I am the Truth."

Jesus said to him,"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him." John 14:6,7
