So You Want to Be a Prophet con’t… Part3

My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.
James 5:10

Walking in the office of the prophet is not all bad. It does have its high points. As long as you stay dedicated to seeking God, controlling your emotions and personal thoughts, you will be found a useful instrument of God for His people. The life blood of any caring prophet is the testimonies. Without the continual positive reports coming in from His people, you feel the prophetic stream within drying up, leaving you a parched and lonely vessel. However, each report confirming that you have heard God clearly brings a new and fresh anointing, giving you the boldness to go deeper when seeking God for the next batch of requests.

He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward.
Matthew 10:41a

We all agree that Jesus was and always will be “The Prophet.” There are major and minor prophets, but Jesus is “The Prophet”, the ultimate Word of God. Therefore, it would make more sense if the verse of Scripture read: “He who receives a prophet in the name of “The Prophet” (referring to Jesus), rather than “a prophet in the name of a prophet”. To receive a Word from a prophet that came from “The Prophet,” Christ Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, would be easier to understand. Then the reward comes from “The Prophet” (Jesus), not just any old prophet, but from Him, the Word of God. For the reward is always in His Word, not in yours.

Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.
2 Chronicles 20:20

Another reason to receive prophets in the Name of “The Prophet” is the reward of prosperity. The word “prosperity” is defined as “help along the journey.” There will be many times in life’s travels that you will need a prophet to help you find your way back to prosperity. We all know how easy it is to get off track and lose sight of where we are headed. That is another reason why God has given His Church prophets.

And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings,
1 Corinthians 12:28

Over the years I have found it very difficult to work within the local church as a prophet, trying the five-fold ministry, threefold ministry and a few other formulas but none seemed to work out. The main problem was always the same; either the pastor or someone with a dynamic personality would take control, telling you what you could say and what you could not say when giving a word. Or there was the true Word of God delivered, and it made someone angry and they wanted to retaliate. Another popular personality would always seem to rise to the occasion, the jealous one who felt they were not receiving enough attention, so another problem would begin to boil over, tainting the true purpose of the prophet. Finally, after much prayer and seeking Him for answers, He gave me the reason why it was not working in the local church. First of all, it was not in the format of five-fold or three-fold, but rather the answer was in the true understanding of what the Church is and not what we have made it to be. Over the years, our daily language has painted a picture of what we think the church is. Like, “I got saved and began to go to church.” Another cliché is: “What church do you belong to?” There are countless others, but the fact is there is only one Church, and it is neither a denomination nor non-denomination. It is the invisible Church of God, the Kingdom of God on earth as well as in Heaven. When I would study the old prophets of God, they were not in the temples or synagogues. They were far away from the crowd seeking God. When the people saw the prophet or prophets of God coming down from the high place, they were all ears to hear what God was now saying through the prophets. Another thing when you are with the fellowship of the local church and someone needs a word from God, it does not have the power unless you have been absent from the body for a long period of time. The reason is twofold. First, if you are the prophet and thoughts start coming to your mind, you wonder: “Is this something I overheard, or is my personal knowledge of the person influencing my words?” The second part is the recipient of the word will wonder if someone told the prophet about their personal life or about the problem they were experiencing, and this drastically diminishes the power of the word. If the prophet was a total stranger then you know they have heard God because there was no way they could have known what was going on in their life. This is another reason why standing alone as a prophet of God is important for the people. The sacrifice sometimes is hard but well worth the reward in knowing that you are truly helping His people by accurately hearing His Word.

Spirit of Prophecy

The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy, according to John in the book of Revelation. What is the testimony of Jesus? Jesus came to show us who His Father was, and how much we were loved. He came looking for lost sheep ready to express the nature of the Father and to reconcile us to Him. He came to give us hope and life, so that faith in Him could propel us out of bondage into freedom. That is exactly what prophecy is able to do for us. It shows us how much we are loved and it gives us hope and stirs our faith to believe. It is the Word, as Jesus was the Word. It has the same kind of power that raised Jesus from the dead to bring life to the dead places. It is Jesus as the Word, looking for His lost sheep, ready and able to rescue them and place their feet on solid ground.

Dear Kent,

YES, they granted me the amount that I need every month now, and the person who is responsible for the human resources affairs and salaries tells me it is even a little bit more than what I wanted! It’s EXACTLY what you suggested.

I am happy.

Kent, it’s not that God would not have confirmed every little detail all along this process now, but I am SO grateful for the words, encouragements and prayer support.

I will start in March. This will be a job as a representative of the mayor of this city (the Youth Olympic Games just started today) and I will have to organize all the events like that. I ask God that all will be done to HIS glory and honor.

As I reread the word from October 2010 I see that there will also be other believers in that place. It’s a huge administration staff of about 1.400 people.

At present I am speechless. What door God has opened here I can’t really describe, but it must be that He entrusts me to go through all the new beginnings to have something really good. It’s really like that: Age does not matter with God but God matters.

I am celebrating today.

We demonstrate our priorities in our choice of a mate. It can be a rude awakening to both partners when a believing spouse’s spiritual priorities re-emerge after the wedding. The Sunday TYM.E.S. (Meditations, Encouragement, and Sharpening in Him)

Dear Readers,

Greetings again, and welcome to Chapter 9 of my adventures getting started hearing God’s voice. This week’s segment is long, but it serves as a necessary “set-up” to some very interesting prophetic training that the Lord planned for me.

The Lord did not hand me a “five-year syllabus” and tell me to set personal goals for hearing HIM. Thank God He coached me at a pace I could handle, with some occasional fallow periods according to His timetable. Training was simple in the first year or so: I prayed, journaled, and bought a few books which the Holy Spirit used to lead me into a deeper study of scripture. I did not have many contacts who knew about the prophetic, so I interacted with Kent by way of listening to his audio teachings, emailing a few questions, and calling him a handful of times. There were so many divine surprises- and confirmations- along the way that the Lord left little doubt as to the path I was to follow, as He pointed it out step by step.

It was always during periods of “waiting” (“nothing” happening) that many doubts would assail me. But it was also during those times that He would allow my hunger for HIM to deepen. During one such period, the Holy Spirit piqued my interest in visions. In time, I felt moved to ask for a vision. What He gave me was a mental impression, an inner vision, which was to prove essential in the next step of my training.

The Lord is always faithful to respond when we “ask, seek, and knock”. HE wants us to learn to hear Him. He give us not only the revelation of Himself that we need, but lots of encouragement, confirmation, and, dare I say, ” fun” (ok, JOY) in Him, beyond all imagination.

Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.”

A Fish on a Platter

You may recall that at the end of last week’s installment I was just beginning to relate how the Lord spoke to me in an early morning journal session. He was posing some questions, and suddenly I heard Him ask pointblank:

“What do you think the greatest moment of your life has been?”

I scribbled down a few personally significant dates.

But His reply floored me. HIS thought on this matter was different from my thought!

He said: “T, it was the moment you tried to seek my face as a teenager-remember?”

My mind flipped back to late 1971 or early 1972, when I had a very profound experience in prayer, seeing His face in an inner vision. At that time, frustrated at not being able to “hold on” to the vision, I often tried to recapture that moment, searching again for His face and yet wondering if I was going about it correctly. I had not thought about this incident in years. But HE remembered it, and it was dawning on me how much the Lord values our desire to have an intimate, face-to-face relationship with HIM. At some point in my early life I had given up trying to press in to know Him better personally; I can’t remember when and why I stopped trying. At what point had my prayers turned more toward defining my problems to Him rather than simply seeking Him? The Holy Spirit spoke tenderly to me through these journal experiences, drawing me into closeness with the Lord. He is so merciful and gracious to us.

In some future TYM.E.S., as HE leads, I will share some more passages from my journals. But for now, so as not to interrupt the flow of the story, I will move on with the plot!

Confirmations of my journal revelations trickled in each day. Some were amusing. At times He would tell me in the morning of a phrase I would hear or a person I would see that day. It was so exciting to hear in this way, and then wait for HIM to demonstrate that I had done so accurately. Several times I heard I was prophetess. Not wanting to be cast into a slime pit-at least right away-I did not immediately go out and broadcast this news to the world. In fact, it would be another year before I would even mention it to my husband! But in a second telephone call to Kent, without my asking, Kent just blurted out matter-of- factly that I had a prophetic gift. Whew! It was a relief not to have to ask. But it had been on my mind, especially since I had lately heard it in my journal. It would be a while before I understood that acknowledging a prophetic gift did not mean being prideful; rather, it is simply a recognition of a particular gifting to serve the body of Christ in a particular way.

In early December of ’08, a few things I had written seemed not to come to pass. My emotions were deeply invested in these matters, and events had turned out the opposite of what I thought I heard. The feeling that I had “missed it” led to discouragement and doubt. Why continue to try to hear, if the hearing was inconsistent? What good was this doing for anyone? The enemy persisted trying to discourage me. As we seek His face, there will come opposition. In fact, there were many personal trials, of unbelievable proportions, which buffeted me during this time, but I will spare you recounting them here. Let us just say, the enemy puts forth every possible reason to give up this quest as he tries to make us believe that seeking Him is of no use. But we know He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek HIM. Praise the Lord, who redeems our life from destruction.

In December of ’08, I wrote to Kent for a third word. I will not share it here, but it was a true prophetic word, and much of it has not come to pass yet. The word spoke of HIS resurrection power coming upon me. After all the dying to self, the coming of His resurrection power was GOOD NEWS. The Lord used this prophetic word to buoy me up as He helped me survive the holidays with the faith to continue on my quest to seek His face.

By late February, I continued on but I felt like I was in a holding pattern. Some days it seemed the words were perfect, other days it was all struggle and strain. Why should this be? I studied Kent’s CDs and ordered a few more books: Kim Clement’s Call Me Crazy, but I’m Hearing God’s Voice, and James Goll’s The Seer and The Prophetic Power of Dreams, Visions, and Open Heavens.

After reading these, I wondered about the visions. Why was my visionary ability so limited. I remembered “seeing” His face briefly that one time, and HIS approval of it. Where was all this going? I hungered for more clarity in my communication with HIM. I prayed. I wrote to Kent some of my issues. He responded:

It is obvious to me, Tyane, that you are being groomed by the Holy Spirit for a special ministry. Like all things God does it takes some time. You will be tested to either serve Him or Man along with other issues that separate those who are called and chosen from those who just follow.

So I was being tested. It seemed like a very tedious test. Well, I was no stranger to long hauls. In my natural calling, teaching the violin had acquainted me with difficulties and frustrations of all sorts including waiting a long time to see any result. I was ok with waiting, yet sometimes I did feel as if I was about to burst if something didn’t change, soon! …But the Lord is faithful to encourage us, if we will receive it. A few days later, an old friend called. Gerald is a prayerful guy who probably wouldn’t style himself as a Christian mystic, but he is. We had known each other since the early 80’s when we were involved in a ministry together. Now and then he would call me with the latest political issue which had him up in arms, but on that day in March ’09, his heart was running along different lines.

Gerald began sharing how he had recently read an old book, a Christian classic from the ’30’s. The title was God Calling, edited by A.J. Russell. It was the true diary of two British women, nobly walking out their Christian service in the depths of poverty in Britain during the Depression of the 30’s. This pair determined to meet together each morning to pray and to write down what the Lord said to them personally. As I recall the story, they had only about half an hour for this purpose. (For a complete synopsis and more information, visit http://www.twolisteners.org/). Gerald’s passion for the story lifted me out of the doldrums and excited me once more with what God was doing. Suddenly I saw my activity, which had become quite time-consuming, as having a historical precedent. I ordered the book immediately, and it proved a source of great inspiration. The two women, who in humility never disclosed their names, had faithfully recorded daily, for years, what they heard the Lord speak to them. I found that so many of the themes, so many of the ways of expression, were exactly what I was experiencing in my journals. It would appear our journals had the same Author. And now the Author was plugging one of His other books through Gerald. It was wonderful to have this confirmation of my activities, unwittingly, through an old friend.

Next I read a book called 101+ Ways God Speaks and How to Hear Him by Sandy Warner. There were many sections on the Lord’s ability to communicate through images. Now, my husband has always been the colorful and artistic member of the family. He does many crafts and hobbies and has painted and worked in various artistic media. His dreams are Spielberg-worthy. My dreams had always been dry and unmemorable for the most part. I felt my imagination was likewise boring. My sensitivity to color is so low that I have even been accused of wearing unmatching clothes…Let’s just say I rely heavily on others with a more artistic eye. If I was going to “see” any communication from Him, it would be a miracle. Yet I received the faith from HIM to ask for more vivid pictures. The Lord could do it. I knew I could not. Like a kid, I wanted the Lord to show me a picture.

On April 1, I seriously felt led to pray for a vision. It would add to my ways of communication and confirmation with HIM. It is important to sanctify even our imagination to Him. After praying, with pen in hand ready to write a description, I closed my eyes. What I saw surprised me. I saw a giant fish leap out of a lake and onto a large platter. Its silvery body draped over both sides of the white platter.

That was it. No word of explanation, nothing. The Lord was silent on what it meant.

I had no clue as to how the Lord would ever use this gift to bless anyone but me. I did receive words for people but He did not lead me to share them. Also, I was not recognized in my local church. That spring, I received a very strong word for a woman from church who had just gone through a family tragedy. I wrote the word out, and tried to send it to her. My computer actually froze, and the message did not go through. (By the way, the computer was almost brand new at that time. I do believe this was the Lord’s doing, to keep me in check.) The time was not yet. I gladly held back from delivering that word. This time in secret with the Lord alone was important. The Lord tests our hearts toward Him and with regard to the motivation for the desire for the gifts. All must be done for His glory. Of course, it is wonderful just to spend time with the Lord. But the gifts are given to express His love, not only for us, but through us. For we know that there is a lost and dying world waiting to hear, and time is short…

Now and then, I still spent a morning surfing through the prophetic sites. One day I I visited to a “free prophecy” site, one I’d seen before. In early ’08, I had almost written for a prophecy from this site, but backed out of it. There was a great validity and standard set by what I had experienced through the Lord’s words I’d received through Kent, and I did not feel a need for any other words. But this time, I felt the Lord leading me to write in to the free site, for HIS purposes yet unclear to me, so i did.

Bios were posted of the prophets and prophetesses who operated on this site. My request would be answered “randomly”. I always get excited by the Lord’s ability to work through “randomness.” Maybe the Lord would send another prophet or teacher along my path. At the very least, it would be interesting to see if this person’s word confirmed any of what Kent had written to me. Would he/she identify my gift or calling? What would the Lord say to them? I felt in some way there would be a corroboration. Would the Lord one day use me in this way? I submitted the request and then went about my day.

On Friday, June 12, 2009, a prophecy arrived anonymously in my inbox. It began with a prayer as follows:

We love you the Great I AM. Please continue to lead, guide and direct us in all your ways. We hid not our left or right hand, for you can have it all! Show us how to walk in purity and holiness. We want more holiness and purity. Fro you said the pure in heart shall see you, Father. We need you! We need you now! We will not settle for the mundane Christian walk that 90% of the bride engages in. Lord, we want the Enoch and Moses walk! We want the intimacy…we want to be true children of the King. Amen.

Then followed a prophetic word:

For the Lord shows me a…

What followed was the most astounding confirmation. A divine connection was struck in the very first line. To be continued!!

Thank you so much for this wonderful word. Thank you for taking time out of your day to wait on the Lord on my behalf, a stranger, and to give me a most precious gift.

This word was so accurate for my current situation, and the last news letter you wrote really resonated with me as well. I used to be very confident in hearing God’s voice, too confident and arrogant as a young christian. Now years later, I have fallen to the other side where I don’t trust myself to not warp His words with my own emotions. But this word was so encouraging and it gave me alot of confirmation that I am hearing Him not just running off my own steam.

I am not currently attending church, and it is such a blessing to be able to receive a beautiful word from God through you, and to remember that He sees me even when I feel like He doesn’t. I shouldn’t sound too forlorn, I am actually very spoilt by Him! Especially at the moment.

When I observed it intently and considered, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.”

Where does it say in the Bible that these ministries and spiritual gifts were removed from the church?

One of the most difficult things to deal with when you are called to the office of a prophet is the rejection you receive from your brothers and sisters in Christ. When you are branded by God with this gift and calling, you not only struggle to be as accurate as possible delivering His Word but also struggle with others standing around judging you. This makes it doubly tough. There will be those who listen to your words to find something that, in their doctrine or opinion, is not of God so they can then tag you as a false prophet. It’s difficult enough to be a Christian in a world that is rapidly turning into heathens without having your own kind wanting to stone you. However, things have loosened up a bit in a few Churches, and there are a few people who are curious enough to secretly cross their denominational boundaries and ask for a word from one of the many prophetic people in the world today. When I started in 1989, I felt all alone and there were a few pastors and lay ministers who wanted me punished for even thinking I was called to the office of a prophet. I admit in the earlier times it did sound very self-serving to call yourself a prophet of God. And let’s face it; those who were known to call themselves a prophet of God were people like David Koresh, the Wacko prophet from Waco, Texas or Jim Jones, the Kool-Aid prophet, whom both led their followers to their ultimate death. Back then you could not help but feel as though God was playing some sick joke, placing the mantle of a prophet around your neck only to have good Christian folks wanting to hang you with it.

So you want to be a prophet? No wonder I became known as the Mail-Order Prophet; it seemed to be the safest way to do what God was calling me to do and still maintain some quality of life expectancy. It was brutal enough trying to break into the Churches and ministerial alliances around the country during those earlier times. For the first 3 years I was in the ministry, not once was I received in a local church; although, God had me ministering 6 days a week somewhere. We had a live Radio Program, and I prophesied live over radio as the lines were open for callers. People would set up meetings in their homes, bank buildings, hotel ball rooms and many other unorthodox places. I wondered how long it would be before I could minister in a church building.

“So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”

When I read this verse, I realized this is one of the promises of the Bible. Not many would want to claim this verse for themselves. However, if you are called of God to the office of a prophet, then it helps you understand why these things are happening to you. With this verse of scripture in mind, I began to ask God to send me outside of the area- which He did. The first place God opened up to me was Hawaii, and there I was received with open arms. The very first week I was on the Island of Oahu (population over 850,000); I was prophesying live over television. On the first day calls flooded the station, and the owners called the phone company to get a count of how many calls they missed in the 30 minutes I was on the air. There were 11 telephones in the television station and all were being answered, but according to the phone company we still missed 258 calls as the lines were all busy. From there God sent me to Norway with the same overwhelming acceptance that I had in Hawaii the month before. Then on to Sweden, England, Thailand, Denmark and many other countries all with open arms starving for the prophetic encounter, believing God could speak through a simple broken vessel such as me. For the next 2 ½ years, I was out of the country for three weeks of every month.

It just proves that the promises of God are real; however, you do not have the choice just to pick one out and claim it for yourself; it might not be the one He has for you.

The Nature of God

What we believe about God our father will play a part in how we receive and interpret the words which He speaks to us. When we understand what is true about His nature, it will change us for the good. Every time we discover that He is kind and loving and gentle, we become more of those things ourselves. We change into Him as we see Him, and likewise, when we are deceived about His nature and believe Him to be judgmental, harsh, and full of expectations that we be perfect, that is how we will treat others and interpret His words to us. Is your Father at peace and full of joy? Believing that He is, will cause you to reflect His very nature. We are not trying to “act” like Him. We must pray to see Him and know Him as He is, so that He may be revealed in us.

Prophet from God

I have received the Word of the Lord from you. It is spot on. It is truly reflecting of the struggles that I have been having regarding the ministry God has given to me, and how the breakthrough would come. I have been meeting with a few people, teaching them, and trying to impart to them what the Lord has put within me. The Holy Spirit revealed my thoughts to you, for indeed I have been longing to see the Word of the Lord come to life. Just shortly before I saw your prophecy the Lord revealed something to me very clearly about what the full message that I should teach his people should be – very clearly, as if this was not in the Word before. The Lord had put within me for a long time, and confirmed through prophecy, the issue of a teaching and bible training ministry. For this I thank God for the confirmation that came from you also. I just need clarity on another level. The problem I have been experiencing is that I am very busy, but my heart longs to do the things that God has placed in my heart. I have been in training for many years. The other calling of God for my life is on business. When will these things happen – what must I do to make them happen?

A number of years ago, a friend of mine said to me, “Why don’t you tell people what it really is like to be a prophet of God?” Well, the reason I did not do so at that time was that I did not want to discourage anyone from their calling. However, looking back, I know now that if you are called to be a prophet of God, you’re going to be a prophet of God one way or the other. It’s not a choice you can make whether this is what you want to do or not. In fact, after you have walked in the office for a period of time, you realize that your whole life has been prescribed with its bumps and bruises purposed for shaping and molding you for this position.

Most people see you operating in a few of the spiritual gifts, and they think that this is the way you are 24/7. Not so! In fact, a big part of the time, you are battling all kinds of demonic attacks that are trying to break you down and make you give up the faith that you are holding for all the words you have given in the name of Jesus.

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith

You see, each time you give a prophetic word your faith will be challenged by the spirits that are at war with God and His people. It is the faith of the one giving the Word that sees that the Word comes to pass. This is one of the major reasons some prophesies or portions of a prophecy do not come to pass. This fact is eventually learned if you walk in the office of a prophet long enough. The enemy will hit you everywhere he can to try and stop you from delivering the Word of God. Because with each Word you speak on behalf of God releases the Angels of God from heaven to “DO” His Word as recorded in Psalm 103:20-22.

Bless the Lord, you His Angels,
who excel in strength, who do His Word,
heeding the voice of His Word.
21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts,
you ministers of His, who do His pleasure.
22 Bless the Lord, all His works,
in all places of His dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul! NKJV

The word of prophecy gives the Angels of God the dominion to see that His Word is completed on earth as it has been spoken in Heaven. They ultimately see that His Word is fulfilled on earth as prophesied. However, this Word can only manifest and come to pass if the prophet holds in faith the Word until the Angels have completed the process and delivered the promise within the Word.

Jeremiah’s Prophetic Pit

Remember when Jeremiah was thrown into the pit because no one liked what he was prophesying? I heard someone say one time that pit means, “prophet in training.” It seems to be a reoccurring theme. One of the “pits” is the pit of condemnation, which is a major “pit” of vulnerability for the prophet. The prophet is born wanting to “get it right.” In fact, he or she is always concerned about “right” and “wrong,” and nothing is worse than on a prophet who is trying to get it “right,” feeling as though he has gotten it “wrong.” One of the worse pitfalls is feeling that what he is saying is “right,” but being rejected because of it. Because he is more concerned with principle than winning friends, he will usually stand by his “word,” but in the process, whatever is in him of people pleasing and the need to be affirmed will be challenged mightily. If the people don’t throw him in a “pit” like Jeremiah because they are angry, he may jump in one himself like Elijah hiding in the cave he is feeling so dejected and alone. Either way, it is “pit”iful for the prophet.

The Lord never fails to address the true questions and issues in my heart, whether or not my flesh understands right away. The Sunday TYM.E.S.(Meditations, Encouragement, and Sharpening in Him)

Dear Readers,

First, thank you for all of the emails in response to this column. I can “see” more than ever how much we have in common as we begin to hear His voice! Thank you for your prayers and support for this ministry as well; these expressions enable us to move forward, as we watch HIS Kingdom expand and see HIM be glorified– since without Him we can do nothing.

Today I introduce Nancy, a lady with a very specialized revelatory gifting. The Lord used her willingness to write and share her experiences to encourage and enlighten me in a lonely time. Nancy weaves in and out of the story, as you will see in future installments. Of all my local church friends, she was the one who “connected” the most with me. Ironically, the only times we talked face to face were the day we met and the day we parted company in anticipation of my cross country move. …Yet as it says in Philippians 2:4: “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Such is our day and age that ministry is accomplished -sometimes exclusively- by email.

The Lord is so inventive in leading us to those we need to meet when we need to meet them. The Holy Spirit is the Master of networking! As we earnestly seek Him, we will find Him-and those that belong to Him- as well.

Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.”

What a blessing to discover that the Lord indeed has many of like mind and knows exactly where they live! Again, thank you all for sharing your thoughts and insights on these emails. There is much more of the story to tell. As I mention each week, Sandy Landry and I are in the midst of writing a book which will greatly expand on this theme of getting started hearing His voice. God bless all of you, as He already has, with an ear to hear and a heart to obey HIM.

So She’s a Seer

Last week, I was just about to share a particular line in the second personal prophecy I received from Kent Simpson on June 26, 2008. The line he spoke was:

“It is best for you to wait upon Him. And He shall begin to send the right people across your path, open the doors that are necessary in order for you to go through all the training the Lord will bring you through in order to acquire and be able to handle all that you shall be given. For where much is given, much is required.”

This was the needed confirmation that the prophetic training was indeed beginning. In fact, this word began to be fulfilled that very week, as the Lord sent the first of a long list of “right people” across my path. Shortly after the prophecy CD arrived, a friend introduced me to a prophetess at a church service.

One Wednesday worship night at our 7000 member mega-church, my violin and I were sitting onstage with the worship band. Nearby sat Wiley the flute player, a guy I’d known for roughly 20 years. He was tall, lanky man, a joyous servant of God who waved His arms wildly during worship and always had a kind word for everyone. While waiting for the service to start, he leaned forward and asked me how I was doing lately. The crowd was noisy, and I doubted we would have time to talk. But the excitement over my recent prophecy was burning in me and the Lord said ‘go for it’, so it was time to get real! “Well, Wiley, I know this may sound strange, but I am beginning to study prophecy. I mean, seriously, I think I have this gift…” I expected him to gasp in horror, accuse me of heresy, or at the very least, change the subject.

“Oh, that’s cool,” he said, offhandedly, “I should introduce you to Nancy; she’s on staff here and she’s a prophetess. In fact, I see her in the audience tonight.”

“What? There’s a prophetess at our church?” Who knew? There had never been any display or even mention of the operation of the gifts of the spirit in the three years I’d been there.

“Oh yeah,” Wiley continued, “We were in the Vineyard together in the 80’s. Nancy just got burned out on the prophetic, how everything was “all about the prophetic” in those days, and so she came here instead. But you should talk to her. Maybe she can help you.”

The Vineyard? I always vaguely thought that was a cult…He quickly enlightened me. I realized I had held many presuppositions which were just plain inaccurate.

After the service, true to his word, Wiley tracked Nancy down, and we all chatted onstage as the people milled around. Nancy was recovering from a mild stroke but was a beautiful lady in her late 40’s. She told me about how she used to spend every Monday in prayer to the Lord. In those Vineyard days, she and a few close friends worshiped together frequently and saw many visions. These Vineyard memories were very dear to her. What had happened? Why would anyone leave a church like that? I thought. Wiley just stood there, smiling and affirming her stories about the “good old days” in the Vineyard.

Finally Wiley took off. Nancy and I stood there talking as the crowd filtered out and the clean up crews took over. She seemed excited to meet someone with a budding interest in the prophetic. Her speech still slightly slurred due to the stroke, she seemed wonderfully invigorated just sharing all of these old memories.

Nancy explained how she prayed for those on staff at our mega-church. Her special gift was “seeing” houses in full architectural detail. When someone was seeking the Lord’s direction for a new place to move, this prophetic ability gave her a way to confirm their choice of apartment or home. She grieved over one time when she had “missed it” and disappointed a senior pastor…Otherwise, she said, her record was highly accurate. She also blessed and prophesied over babies. I wondered how it was I’d never met her or heard of her; she was so low profile for such a gifted person. Like a sponge, I tried to absorb as much as possible!

Nancy and I suddenly realized we already had “met” a few months earlier by email. She was newly assigned as my supervisor in the Encouragers Ministry, whose function was to call up new members and give them contact information for various ministries in the church. Since we were working together by email, Nancy promised to write to me again soon. She offered to seek a “picture” for me and also share more of her experience of the prophetic. I thanked the Lord for the opportunity to “pick the brain” of someone who had experienced prophecy firsthand. The idea of seeing “pictures” was exciting and curious to me. At that point, I had only received words and impressions, but not “pictures”, as she called them.

Below I have reprinted a few of our first email exchanges. All of our original misspellings are intact, just for authenticity. There is much valuable advice in the words she sent, and I took her suggestions to heart in those days.

Below is the first email she sent after our meeting:

Hi Tyane!

…just an FYI, I have been praying for you…when I see a picture that seems more “substantial?” I’ll share it. I just always get little “diddies” that I don’t want to bother you with. Like just now, I saw a black circle, then an eraser came to erase it, but before it could touch the spot to erase it, it turned to into sky. I also saw a pair of scissors cut a square, almost like a square sheet of puff pastry, then it folded it over into a triangle, then again another triangle.

This is why I haven’t been sharing what I get when I pray for you. But, I haven’t forgotten about you! Nancy

Dear Nancy,

…thanks for the prayer. Never discount any diddies, especially from a prophetess!

My husband JR is very artistic,details and fixes collector cars for a living and has many craft-y hobbies, and his father was an artist as well.

My thinking is very symbolic; in fact the Lord often speaks that way to me, in a way I can understand.

So your geometric visions are appreciated here! I will pray for the Lord to make the meaning clear, or clearer, in His time and according to His will. Some thoughts about what the circle and square may mean have occurred to me…

Thank you Tyane. I know that the way it goes is sometimes I get really bizarre pictures, have no idea what they could mean, but when I tell the person they know exactly what it means. I have countless stories like that. But, as the years go by, the Lord usually shows me what all the symbols mean and I know what pictures are about, but with you, I’ve not known any of them. So, that in itself is a pattern. And, it’s probably my pride that has kept me from sharing because I’m used to now wanting to give full words, with pictures, scripture and words of knowledge and wisdom all rolled into one little package, when I know better. I apologize. From now on, I’ll share with you whatever I get. And the Lord has really been pressing on me to position myself in a place where I can use my gifts.

As far as yesterday getting those pictures for you…. the spot was just on something, like material or a comforter or something, but it was a black spot. I saw this eraser approach it and then the spot turned into sky and grew. I had the feeling that God came, it was like a little spot of darkness turned into heaven.

Now I very clearly saw a pair of scissors begin to cut something puffy, like puff pastry, that quickly was cut into a perfect square. Then it folded over onto itself, forming a triangle, then again. I cutting out and folding, perfectly square, then perfectly triangular.

Just now, I saw you on a bicycle delivering phone books. You were having trouble pulling the books out of a basket on your bike and tossing them. You had to stop to perform this as it was just too complicated for you to ride along and toss them. The phone books had grown too big. This red car, like a mini Cooper, it was small, pulled up behind you. The driver stopped, put your bike in the trunk and gave you the keys. He told you that your ministry/service needed to grow so that you could reach more people/homes. The car was not for you to do the same thing in less time, but to go farther and reach more.

That picture was more understandable for me because bikes and cars usually represent your own ministry or walk with the Lord, as jets, ships and such represent larger ministries. I think your personal ministry might be too much for you now, awkward, unbalanced and so the Lord is going to bring you something that will upgrade it, set it in better motion, make it flow better.

Then, shortly after, Nancy wrote another email. Looking back through the emails, I realize now that I never wrote back to tell her that my husband actually did own a little red British sportscar, and that for many years, I often rode a collapsible bike which he would fold up and put in the trunk when he arrived to pick me up in his car. I should have confirmed this to her, for her encouragement! But the emails were flying fast, and shortly after that, she sent another:

Hi again,

Ok, I can’t spend a lot of time on this until after I finish my work, but as I read your email below, I saw that you were sitting with your paper and pencil, ready to hear from the Lord and write… waiting… then you scrunched up your face like you were forcing it. I see that the stiller you are, the quieter and not trying to hear from Him, but just being… then He’ll speak to you… a lot! Also, in the time right before waking, that half awake, half asleep time. On my best days, He keeps me there after a dream and tells me what it means, then when I wake up I’m like I’m still in that time as He is explaining what the dream means more and we are totally interacting together within the dream. Honestly, that time/place with God and I have been some of the most supernatural experiences in my life. it doesn’t happen often, but there’s nothing like it when it does. I think you are going to begin hearing Him there and then. I pray that for you, in Jesus name!

Dear Nancy,

Thank you so much for this incredible confirmation.

It came after I just read your first email and then began to pray for you.

He has been waking me up in the middle of the night and having things to say to me a lot of late. I have also been led to write them down.

At some point when He has fulfilled all He has said, I will beable to share exactly what is happening, but it is very much of Him right now.

Also, I tend to set the alarm and pray at 545-615 am each day. This morning He had A LOT to say. I was trying to write it down earlier, around 8 am or so, and probably did scrunch my face in trying to get it right, One thing He is impressing on me is to get it right, not to let my soul put my own spin on it, but just to write what I hear. He is teaching me a lot about that right now.

So thankful for you. Seek ye first the Kingdom, and all these things shall be added. May He bless you tremendously today with His presence.

Then Nancy wrote again:

It’s so hard to work…I feel like I could just sit and type all day to you…!

First of all, I forgot to say, YES, write everything down. That is the hardest thing for me and I only am faithful to write down about one out of every dozen good dreams, but yet I have a binder with at least a hundred of them and then I began typing them and I have a bunch cataloged, then I have this program on my Mac that I can tag them and categorize them. Someday I need to enter all of them and tag them all because God brings up some symbols frequently. I have typed up all words that I get for people, unless I’m praying for them in person, and if I’m at a prayer meeting they get taped, but I have no record of them. All I know is this, I’ve never seen the same picture over again, something new each time. Each one I think, I’ll never forget that, but I’ve had lots of people come up to me and say, “Remember that picture you saw for me…”, and they’ll describe it, and I don’t even remember ever praying for them, let alone what I saw. I do believe that it is honoring to God to write down all that you can. I need to transcribe the tapes of prophecies that I’ve received from other prophetic people too, like you did. It’s just a time thing for me, I have no time. I really hope that I can live past my kids getting out of school and moving away, then I love to think about me spending my time doing all that kind of thing. That’s my retirement dream…

I have tape recorder in the drawer by my bed that I used to use about 8 years ago. I bought a pack of little micro tapes to use in it and when they were all filled up with dreams I just stopped using it. They are all still on there, untranscribed…. Then I bought a pen that lights up at the tip at night, I used that till the light wouldn’t work, now I just tell myself I’ll remember….. and I don’t…. then I really feel like I let God down.

Talking to you has been a great reminder for me to just start again, try to spend some time everyday to write down what He’s told me. I have been journaling and doing a devotional for a recovery group that I try to go to when I can. If I could just have a few more hours everyday! Anyway, thank you for reminding me of the importance of transcribing tapes, writing down dreams and words and pictures, and mostly, taking the time to listen to God, who I believe, is talking all the time!

I just now remembered a dream that I had for…friend and a picture that God gave me for him as I was waking up! I’ll type it up now.

Thank you so much Tyane! You are good for me. I think that God just told me for you that it’s in a place of peace that He will meet you. It’s not just as you are “being”, that I said before, but in peace. When you are peaceful in your spirit, God is going to be talking to you.

As often happens in email correspondence, after a few more weeks of excited exchange, we reached a lull. Nancy got tired and/or busy, or she had less reason to contact me for the Encouragers Ministry, and so I didn’t hear from her at all for a few weeks. In a sense, the prophetic was a sideline to her; her duties in administration were hugely time-consuming. In a church of 7000, it was a privilege to talk to a staff person in that “in-depth” of an interchange. I appreciated the sacrifice of time she made to write even these few emails, especially in light of her health situation.

In the meantime, I had continued listening to Kent’s “School of the Prophets” and wondered if Kent Simpson had found it at all strange that someone from California had ordered the whole set of DVDs, a few at a time, over a period of several weeks. After watching the last disc, I felt as if I’d just graduated from one of those language immersion courses. Now I wanted to visit the country where someone spoke this language… so I could practice!

I scrolled through the Elijah List again and this time felt led to pick out an “R” prophet for study. Larry Randolph was the next prophet whom I studied. I watched some interviews online and was able to purchase a couple of his books, Spirit Talk and The Coming Shift. I was excited that my prophetic library now included another author besides Bill Hamon! Through reading Randolph’s books, I began to see that this prophetic movement didn’t just consist of a few scattered saints receiving an unction to move on, but rather that the Lord was shifting whole churches into new ways of thinking not only about the prophetic, but also about the very paradigms and organizational principles which had suppressed the spiritual gifts and their operations and even the network that should have supported them for centuries. My notions of what it meant to “equip” the body were quickly changing.

Missing Nancy, and realizing she was way too busy to deal with my questions and concerns, I longed for counsel from someone seasoned in his walk with the Lord, experienced in the prophetic, and patient enough to mentor someone like me. I did not know where to go locally for help, and the Lord was NOT urging me to leave our local fellowship. But HE made the next step clear. It was not to be a solitary trek in the desert, and there was to be no period of isolation in a cave in Silicon Valley. Next week, Lord willing, I will tell you about calling up Kent for the first time.

For the past couple of years, I have noticed an increase in the number of people desiring to hear from God for themselves. It was for this same reason that in 1994 I went on television offering PMT’s first video correspondence program “School of the Prophets”. It wasn’t until January of 2003 that we offered our second video school of ministry, “The School of Prophetic Knowledge”. Many immediately enrolled and found the courses to be vital in launching their ministry.

As an interim offer to our graduates in 2005, we made available the training videos for those who might want to become an Internet Pastor under Prophetic Ministries Today. This method of ministry with the correct technology can be a great avenue for ministry and is still wide open for those who are Internet savvy. However, I believe it was a little bit ahead of its time, and many did not truly understand the scope and exposure one could have by offering their ministry online. This video course was short lived. With technology changing so quickly, the training became obsolete in just a couple of years.

Now after 9 years since our last school, it is time to update everyone with all that the Holy Spirit has taught us since that time. So over the next few months we will start putting together another video correspondence school and this is where you come into the process of making this video correspondence school one of our best. PMT Partner: I was just listening to an audio on your website wherein you were speaking about a hearing clinic that you use to give awhile back. That really got my attention. I have been searching all my life from books, articles, prayer, and speaking with others about how to hear the actual voice of God. There have been a few instances that I can count on one hand wherein I know that I have heard God. All of my research about hearing the voice of God has gotten me nowhere. I have read more books and ordered more tapes than you can imagine. They all say the same thing and they don’t tell me HOW to get it. I already know that I have to be knowledgeable of the written word of God, be obedient, etc. but something is still missing because I don’t hear God enough. Hearing once a year or less is not enough for me. I want to hear him and know how He speaks. Does he speak through music, billboards other people, numbers, symbols, etc.? But that is not His audible voice. I want to hear an audible voice / knowing like you do. How can I get this?

Kent’s Reply: Hopefully, I have not been misled to think that I am always hearing the voice of God audibly. There is so much to learn about hearing God. We use this statement-“hearing God’s voice”- so loosely. When I and most others say we are “hearing God’s voice”, I can see how easy it would be to think we are saying we are hearing audibly. A better way to say this is that the impression of His voice is so strong it is like you are hearing His audible voice. Don’t get me wrong; I have heard His audible voice, but it is a rare thing. God is omnipresent and speaks through all objects and all our natural senses. We will get more into this later, for there is a process that you must go through before you receive the full promise, and you will hear HIM daily. Trying to explain how you hear God is like trying to tell how falling in love makes you feel. You can explain all the obvious things about falling in love but how does it happen that you know this is the one you will spend the rest of your life with?

How many ways does true love effect you physically and emotionally and how do you know this is love, you just know that you know in your “knower”.

I have wanted this all my life. I would give anything to have it. I know that with my saying “I would give anything to have it” sets me up for a lot of heartache. I know that having that gift comes with a great price. I know this because of other prophet friends of ours (one who is now dead. He died at age 50). I see people who have this gift and still complain about their lives. What a fantastic gift to hear from GOD on a daily basis and to walk side by side with Him! What is more valuable than that? It is like having gold. Everything pales in comparison. I want to hear EVERY SECOND and not struggle to hear. I want it to flow and come naturally all day long. I know that this is a gift that you can’t earn. I can’t make God give it to me. He has to do it on His own. The bottom line is I don’t want to struggle with hearing. If I could hear then I could get the answers in how to deal with my problems. Whatever you can tell me about this would be greatly appreciated as well as praying that God would give me this gift. What does God say to you about this? Is it his will for me to hear in this manner?

Kent’s Reply: For the past 2 years, Ty and Sandy have been working on a book that deals with finding the answers to how the prophetic gift is birthed and how it works in a person’s life. I have personally worked with Ty and Sandy beginning when they were at the place you are at right now. PMT has over 323 ordained ministers who carry ministerial licenses and minister in some form of the prophetic gifts. One thing I can say about each one; not one operates the same as any other. They all have a variable of difference in their gift and hear God in a different way; no two are the same.

You will hear Him in the manner He has created you. Soon we will get into looking back and discovering some the ways He has revealed Himself to you in the past. There are reasons why. Your relationship with Him has so much to do with the manner in which He will speak to you. The best time to know that it is HIM speaking is when you are not praying or even thinking about what comes bursting into your thoughts.

The Best and Worst of Times

The book A Tale of Two Cities, begins with the line,” It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” It seems to be what the prophets are saying about our future. It may be the worst of times economically, but when God’s people are pushed into a position of faith, and God supplies their needs and responds to their faith, then suddenly, we are in “the best of times.” We will have entered an arena where we will be out of comfort zones, into the precarious and frightening world of faith. It is faith which God values and which He looks for, because now we are weak and He can prove Himself strong. It is sometimes a place that we don’t want to experience, because it means we will be dependent and uncomfortable. We will need to depend on each other and on God, and on our hearing His voice. But the potential for the Church to find strength and greatness, to emerge triumphant and victorious will be in the worst of times. David is only a shepherd boy with some rocks in his hand until he faces Goliath, and then he is a warrior headed to becoming a King.

I want you to know that you through our Lord Jesus have always been a blessing to me. At times I go back to tapes that you gave me in the 1990s when I was in prison. And then even after the Lord released me 1996 you sent tapes that help me to deal with being outside again. After 5 years being locked up changes you. The first time I was allowed to leave the half-way house I could not wait to get back inside my room. But getting back to why I’m writing you is to thank you so very much for your ministry that our Lord has given to you. I have always been able to learn and grow so much through your teaching tapes and videos. I’m going to fight and keep spending a lot of time with our Lord. I just never have a happy day. Don’t mean to complain. As long as things go ok that is a good day but the last happy day I had is when I was bless to marry one of my best friends in August of last year. Regarding Kent’s Article,

This is such an Awesome email “God’s Favorite Game”….when I saw the title I knew what the game was and thought right away that it was exactly what has been going on with me lately. It was like one of those A Ha (however you spell it) moments, then when I saw the email I had written it brought back to remembrance of when I prayed to God about my father and totally put it into God’s Hands. I remember my helpless feeling and inadequacy and knowing that ONLY GOD could help me.

I have been doing a lot of seeking God lately about many things for His answers and boy God seems to be good at hiding. It seems the more He hides that is when we finally do seek Him, like when we see He’s not coming out. This email really gives so many an explanation of what is going on when we feel bewildered and lost out in the wilderness. It sometimes feels that God is nowhere to be found, but He is just hiding and who knows for what reason, maybe so we will “Seek Him.” Just a shame that we have to come to the end of ourselves most of the time before we start to seek Him. Now I try to remember to stop and pray and be still about everything before I get carried away into confusion.

The part of where you say that helping find God for others is what prophets makes so much sense to me now.

The Sunday TYM.E.S. (Meditations, Encouragement, and Sharpening in Him)

Dear Readers,

Hello again, and welcome back! Thank you to all who have emailed blessings and words of encouragement. Not surprisingly, many of you recall thoughts and feelings similar to mine when you were first “getting started” hearing His voice. What He has done before, He will do again, and more so!

Today I will share a few secrets from my past as they pertain to the events surrounding learning to hear HIM. I hope to show how the Lord spoke in a very private language of numbers related to my past in order to confirm His prophetic calling in my present and future.

You may remember from last week that I had been wallering a long time. The Lord was aware of exactly how long, as you will note today. When we are in a “dry” place, it is helpful to ask that He would reveal Himself in a way we can understand. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7. When what we want is more of Him, we will need to wait on HIM, be it long or short, but in the end we will find that He is always ready and willing to answer us. Thank You, Jesus, for Your blood shed for us!

You will see how in this personal instance, the LORD truly met and exceeded all my expectations in His ability to communicate Himself. Be encouraged, as Jesus Christ is indeed “the same, yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

“Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”

A Blast from the Past

For those of you who do not know me, I must preface this chapter by saying that I like numbers. Not math, just numbers. I make associations with numbers and think of them not as cold symbols but as friends. As a kid, I used to watch my stockbroker dad as he scoured the financial pages of the S.F.Chronicle, scanning the columns of tiny ciphers and noting the Dow Jones ups and downs. He knew the stats on every stock, and did I have fun “testing” him! Later in life I played in a band whose director numbered every song, and I memorized each title and its corresponding number till my ability was a running joke with the other musicians. Recurring numbers and anniversary dates also intrigue me. There is a day in March on which many of my significant life events occurred, including my baptism. I am not superstitious, but I just see numbers as one more way the Lord speaks in my life. As we know, He speaks to each of us in ways that we can understand.

So as I stared at the label on Kent’s first prophecy CD, what struck me was the date: April 29, 2008. In my distraction and excitement, I had missed this critical detail. Kent’s prophecy had been recorded on the 22nd anniversary of possibly the most devastating event in my life. It was the date of my beloved Granny’s passing, which occurred quite unexpectedly at 5 a.m., April 29, 1986 due to a medical error. And something else equally significant had happened on that day. Suddenly a faded memory burst forth in high definition as the Holy Spirit quickened it in an instant. On that same April 29th morning, three hours after my Granny went home, a prophetess named Minnie Johnson called my home telephone “out of the blue”. Her voice was matter-of-fact. She said the Holy Spirit just told her that my Granny had gone to heaven that morning. Born in Louisiana on a sharecropper’s cabin in 1910, Minnie didn’t phrase it exactly that way, but I will allow Sandy Landry to elaborate, as the book we are writing deals extensively with the colorful life of this prophetess named Minnie.

So this realization hit: April 29th was the anniversary of the day the Lord had first spoken prophetically to me, through a prophetess named Minnie. There was no way Minnie could have known of my Granny’s brief final illness. The Lord used Minnie’s timely word as a life raft of comfort in what was then a sea of grief that lasted for years. There was no doubt HE had prompted her to call on that fateful day in 1986. In that moment years before, through Minnie’s word, HE had ALSO given me proof of the operation of the prophetic gifting in our day. I had just never considered trying to find out more about this wonderful gift.

It is incredible how memories with deep spiritual import can get eroded over the years, especially when we are intensely engaged in the busy life of the soul! Minnie’s word was a genuine tribute to the Lord’s care for me in the midst of tragedy. But it never occurred to me to take it a step further, to ask Minnie HOW she heard it, even though I had prayed for the gift of prophecy and had had hands laid on me in 1983… Now, 22 years of wallering later, here was this word from Kent Simpson, telling me I was going to learn to follow His voice, and this word was delivered on the exact same day, April 29th, possibly even close to the same hour… There was no way this was a coincidence. This was the hand of the Lord. The Lord had set up a memorial in time and was saying, in effect: “Note this! I am speaking to you through another prophet… again! This is real! Pay attention!” I felt I was being given a “second chance” to receive a calling… So it was that the Holy Spirit used this synchronicity as a powerful confirmation that He wanted me to learn to hear Him- the way Minnie had.

As Kent might phrase it, the Lord had “baited” me years earlier, on April 29th, 1986. I had not picked up the bait then. Now, this older and much hungrier fish was biting on another April 29th. The Lord, who knows exactly what it takes to “tune us in” to His voice, used my remembrance of this anniversary of my first “prophecy” as a confirmation that it was indeed the receiving of the gift of prophecy that was in question here.

Further study into the prophetic was now a joy. I would hear Him calling to me in short sentences. Sometimes I would awake with a jolt in the middle of the night, only to hear a few key words from HIM, always delivered in that same matter-of-fact way that Minnie had spoken. Trying to raise doubt and skepticism, the enemy countered: “Are you sure this isn’t just your imagination or some weird egotistical temptation? Isn’t it enough just to love and serve others?” Readers, as we pursue the deeper intimacy with God, the enemy rushes in and implies that we are vain and selfish in our motives. And of course, we who are honest before the Lord already know that we are flawed in all of those ways and more! But we must learn to stand on WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST: His righteous redeemed ones, gifted by grace through faith. 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

How I dislike giving airtime to the enemy’s lies, but I do want to encourage those of you who are bombarded with such insinuating and condemnatory questions. You are not alone in these temptations! The enemy fights hard to divert us from pursuing this prophetic gift which is the very testimony of the Lord Jesus (Rev. 19:10). Prophetic gifting functions in many ways, among them to strengthen , encourage, comfort and edify the Body of Christ. Anyone who is called to it and studies to flow in it will seek and find a closer and closer walk with the Lord. It is this closer agreement with the Lord and the release of His presence which threatens and defeats the darkness. (Praise is of the utmost value as well. Praise the Lord, who desires to complete the work He has begun in us!)—Anyway, this time I wasn’t swallowing the lie and I took the LORD’s bait. I let Him catch me.

Kent’s “School of the Prophets” soon arrived in my mailbox, a few DVD’s at a time. It is an excellent overview and resource for prophetic people at all levels, and I recommend it. As I watched the DVD’s, it was apparent that Kent Simpson was no cave-dweller; he seemed approachable and even surprisingly “normal”. I hoped to be able to speak to him one day and bombard him with all of the questions that were burning in me. Thankfully, it was nearly summer and my work load had thinned out, so I had lots of time to listen to the discs and gain some inspiring insights from someone with a ton of practical experience.

By mid-June I was convinced that I was hearing HIM better. Now I really longed for another word of confirmation. Visiting Kent’s site again, I calmly submitted another request for a personal prophecy. Now I felt I knew Kent like a personal friend; I had spent hours hearing his stories. And since Kent for his part didn’t know a thing about me, surely this word would be uncompromised by prior knowledge. Like everyone, I also longed to get some help on personal issues, but the additional confirmation of a prophetic calling was deeply needed. Our loving Lord does not tire of confirming His word to us!

The June 26th CD arrived with the banner slogan “God Has A Word for You”. Again I eagerly spun the disc to hear that now-familiar voice say these words:

Dear Tyane,

“As our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has revealed much about you, there are portions I will hold back and refrain from speaking at this time… The prophecies that are spoken… it is according to Psalms 103: 20-22 “the angels go out and do the word that is spoken” on earth as it is in heaven. So shall it be the same for you.”

My heart sank in disappointment. Why, Lord? Why can’t he tell me? Why the secrecy? So Kent heard a lot about me, but the Lord didn’t want him to tell me? Or did Kent not want to tell me? Was that bad or good? So the Lord is saying the angels were released… for what?? Couldn’t the Lord at least hint why?? How was that fair, not to tell me, especially since I had ordered the prophecy. I prayed over this. I acted in faith. Why this silence? (For further revelation of the fairness and justice of the Lord, and similar topics, please ignore my rantings and just ask the Holy Spirit and His Holy Word!)

True, this new prophecy delved quite accurately into many of my personality traits and interests. It told me about who I already knew I was. Thank God, but these miraculous words of knowledge were not what I was looking for… The voice droned on.

The Lord adjusted my attitude….I suspected I knew the answer for the “secrecy” in my spirit already. SINCE I was called to learn how to hear HIM, and hear HIM for others, the Lord wasn’t allowing His spokesman make it easy on me by spilling ALL the beans. The Lord wanted to tell me HIMSELF, as I was learning to refer everything back to Him, waiting on Him, asking Him things and receiving answers in His time. (I am still learning this, by the way.)

However, Hallelujah! My ears perked up when finally, in the last minute of the prophecy, Kent spoke a piece of information that gladdened my heart at and made it all worthwhile. The Lord had seen fit to include one golden nugget. This one nugget would have to suffice. Even if the Lord had used Kent to say only this one thing, this was the confirmation needed for the next step.

Next week, Lord willing, I will relate to you this word of confirmation which the Lord spoke through Kent Simpson. And as many of you have experienced when receiving a word, the manifestation followed almost the very next day.

Hoping you’ve been well. It been a while, and I hope you remember me.

Just wanted to keep you posted on my progress. I guess you recall the Word of Lord you gave me.

A couple of weeks ago, we had meet for a prayer meeting…we call it zonal prayer meeting. We had corporate prayerz, and the Lord a door of employment for me!. Itz a short contract job, but I know its a beginning of great things to come!.

Before the last presidential election, it was revealed to me and a few other ministers that our Nation would be headed on a direct path for civil war. At the time Our Lord began revealing this prophetic word, we had little understanding about what He meant. Now that we are on the very Edge of a major breakdown in our society, we can see how this is all beginning to play out. The instigators of this civil war do have a purpose and that is to break down our present system of government. Not only is this civil war a racial war, but it is also a war of attrition, a breakdown in moral values, and an expression of hate toward those “One Per-Centers” who have more than the rest (99%) of the American populous. “So get Your House in Order.” For the past two years, another word that has been delivered concerns the stockpiling of enough food, fuel and daily condiments to last for at least 3 months. One of the greatest commodities for exchange in the near future will be any one of the three items listed: food, fuel and daily commodities. “Is Gold or Silver a Good Deal?” Well, there is a problem looming over the World Bank and the Currency Exchange Market Index. You see, it looks as though before the year is over we will see the International Market Index change the factoring that presently determines the strength of the US Dollar as versus the Chinese Dollar. If that happens, then we will no longer use any of the current formulas for calculating exchange rates for currency, goods and products. Even if you have gold or silver, the exchange rate that we use today will not be the same after the switch. So you could have $10,000 in silver today but it could be devalued to less than $1,000 after the switch. The thing is, if you have $’s in real hard product, you have an item that will exchange for a much higher rate than any currency or metal. If you have a warehouse full of beans, rice, canned goods, fuel, clothes, toilet paper, etc., you will be worth more than if you had the money in the bank. I know this sounds extreme but you might be surprised how much more you could make on these items. Inflation alone will drive up the value of all these goods. If I had the extra $’s I would be purchasing utility vehicles like the Kabato CUVs. This type of vehicle averages above 50 miles to the gallon, and they come with air conditioning, if requested. These vehicles are going to bring huge returns. Bartering is going to become the true measure of exchange for a 3 to 4 year period of time. “The Next #1 Selling Pick-up Truck 2013” There are other companies that make the same type of units for a lot less than the cost of a Kabato. These units are street legal in many cities. Gainesville has started allowing people to drive anything with headlights and tail lights in the city and throughout the county. One of the simplest ways to hear God is through His written word. Remember when Moses brought down the tablets with the law and the Israelites didn’t want God talking directly to them because it was too scary? They acted like He was the mean giant of the mountain, ready to shout at them or burn them to a crisp if they got too close. It was fine for Moses to “go up there,” but they wanted an interpreter.

His Word that He has given to us is a love letter. Have we been “preached at and hammered with it” so much that we don’t expect to approach God through it and receive loving answers to give us faith in our struggles? It is the supernatural book of the ages. It is so powerful, there are places where it can only be had through smuggling, or if found, means imprisonment or worse. It is a two edged sword able to divide truth from lies. It is fire and passion, reality, promise, comfort, hope, salvation, instruction, principle, and the intimate whispers of a God who loves us and wants to point us to the WAY.

Dear Kent,

I am friends with Ian Haskell and he recommended I request a prophetic word from you. Well, as you know, I did as he recommended and quite frankly I was expecting a “warm fuzzy” word that would apply to just about anybody. But I was so hungry for the things of God and a word from the Lord I thought I would give it a shot. I also felt it strange that I should have to pay $30 for a word from the Lord but Ian explained that your ministry is full time and a workman is worthy of his hire. Well sir, I agree… a workman is worthy of his hire.

I got my word the other day fully expecting that warm fuzzy word but I was shocked to hear what the Lord had to say to me through you. After I heard the word I called Ian and said “You have to hear this…Kent NAILED ME.”

Kent, everything you said to me was spot on… well what is to come to pass yet is completely beyond me but the things you said of my past and what is happening right now was dead on. So I can only presume that the future things will come to pass as well.

Kent, after many, many years of being “called” to be an apostle I have finally been sent into the apostolic ministry God has in store for me. The Lord has been preparing me for about 20 years to walk in the apostolic. Through many years of ups and downs and many “false starts” (I have been known to run ahead of the Lord) I have finally learned that everything we do is from a position of rest and peace in Christ. From out of our deep personal relationship with Him comes the works. The works are a result of the relationship.

You told me that the depression will soon be passing. I have been clinically depressed for over 30 years as well as bi-polar. I believe the word you gave me was a promise from the Lord that He will deliver me from this debilitating disease so that I can finally do His will and walk out the ministry He called me into. I also deal with agoraphobia (an unreasonable fear of leaving the house) and also SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder, fear of crowds) I believe He is delivering me from these illnesses as we speak. I have spent many, many years in fear, but all the while the Lord has been preparing me for His work. Studying scriptures and ministering on the internet. My time to walk among His people without fear has come. Praise His Holy Name!
