A mysterious and strange spirit came to me when I was only 9 years old which led me on a lifelong quest for answers. My sister and I had been staying with my grandmother in West Texas. She had invited my 2-year-old sister and me to come stay with her for 2 weeks during the hot, dry month of June 1961. Our parents needed to spend some time together just the two of them, so our loving Grandmother Simpson willingly obliged to have us stay with her. She was so blessed to entertain, or should I say spoil, us with anything and everything we asked for. Having been a widow for many years, she craved to have company, especially her grandchildren. Each day was well planned with all kinds of activities; no grass was going to grow under our feet while we were in her care.

The 2 weeks passed quickly, and the time came for our parents to pick up my sister and me. It was around 7:00 in the evening when the telephone rang. My dad was calling to tell Grandma they were coming to pick us up. This required a 60-mile trip for our parents. While Grandma continued to visit with my dad a light rain began to fall. Rain in West Texas is rare; in fact, the average annual rainfall is 19.53 inches (www.usclimatedata.com).

This rain was not only a rare sight, but it brought with it a very strange sensation; it made me feel sad and uncomfortable. All of a sudden a strong impression came upon me and forced me to yield to an urgent message. When I stopped my mind from racing, a voice very clearly said, “There is going to be an accident and it will be fatal.” I immediately began to interrupt my Grandma as she tried to talk to my parents. She kept pushing me away, but I persisted in begging her to let me talk to them. When she hung up the phone I asked her, “Grandmother, why did you not let me talk to them?” She responded, “They will be here in about hour.” With tears in my eyes I said, “No they won’t, they’re going to have a wreck.” Grandmother did not take me seriously. I’m sure she just thought I didn’t want to go home or that I was just tired. But I knew what I heard; the wreck was going to leave me without parents.

I began to pace around the house pleading with God not to let them die. At one point I became exhausted and I leaned forward, placing my head upon my forearm that was pressed up against the inside of the front door. Suddenly, I remembered reading in the Bible that men of God would envision things they wanted to happen as they prayed and God would honor their prayers, so I started praying and entreating God as I envisioned within my mind my parents just running off the road and no one getting hurt, but I was already too late.

About 20 minutes later, my dad’s four brothers came walking into the house. Their faces looked very strained and none of them would look directly at me. One of my uncles sat down by the telephone and just stared at it. Eventually, he called the hospital. He was trying to find out where my parents were located, or at least that is what I thought was happening. Supposedly, he was speaking with the hospital receptionist, repeating everything she was saying so everyone could hear. Then he tearfully said, “So the wife was killed but the husband lived and is in shock?” My dad’s youngest brother was standing behind me throughout the phone call with his hands placed firmly on my shoulders. As soon as my uncle repeated the condition of my parents I broke down crying. My 2-year-old sister turned and began trying to console me. I kept telling her as tears were streaming down my face, “You don’t understand. You’re too young to know what is going on.”

Looking back at what I have learned:

I realized much later that my uncle pretended to be calling the hospital because none of my uncles could bear telling me to my face what had happened. There is really no good way to break bad news.

A couple of years passed and I finally got up the nerve to ask my grandmother if she remembered me pleading with her while she was on the phone with my parents, if she recalled that I told her they were going to have a wreck. She was washing dishes while looking out the window when she answered me. Without turning toward me she said, “Yes I remember.” Then she asked me, “How did you know they were going to have a wreck?” I told her I didn’t know as I walked away. The way she said it made me feel as if something was wrong with me, like I was not normal.

One of my mother’s brothers helped me understand from which side of my family the prophetic gift has been passed down from generation to generation. While my sister and I were with our grandmother, my mother’s oldest brother was enjoying a summer vacation with his family in Colorado. Years later, while telling me his story, he indicated that he too had a revelation about my mother’s death. He said he suddenly experienced a great urge to pack up everything and head back home to Texas. He knew in his spirit that something was wrong with his baby sister. They still had a few days of fun scheduled, but he knew they had to go. Early the next morning, they packed up their gear and started the long trip home. When they came upon the Texas border, the Highway Patrol was slowing everyone down and pulling over a few cars. When he approached the roadblock, they motioned for him to pull over and a patrolman asked my uncle for his driver’s license. Once the officer knew who my uncle was, he told him about the accident that had taken my mother’s life. Another patrolman was ordered to escort them the rest of the way home.

This too I find interesting: as far back as I can remember my mother would tell me that I would die when I turned 27 years old. It didn’t bother me when she did. I was really too young to give it much thought, but I did not forget it. I guess she had a vision that she would lose me at 27. Her interpretation turned out to be partly correct; you see, she was 27 at the time of the wreck. Her words haunted me for many years later, until my 27th birthday had passed. I didn’t think about it too much after that birthday, but I learned a lot from this sad experience.

From that point on, I searched to find out how I knew in advance that my mother and father were going to be involved in a fatal accident. Why did the rain bring such an awful feeling, like it was speaking a disturbing truth to me? Where was the voice coming from, and who was it? Was it God or Satan? Could it have been an angel or maybe a demon? Why did the impression come so strongly, to the point I felt there was no way I could stop it? Throughout my teenage years I would learn about all kinds of spiritual methods, teachings on how a person can know of things to come, but nothing sounded quite right.

It wasn’t until years later, when I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, that the great teacher revealed to me how we sometimes know of things to come.

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” (John 16:13).

The most important thing I have learned:

It is not enough to hear the voice of God; you must know what He means.

Furthermore, it takes many years to develop the knowledge and understanding of the spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit. For this reason I encourage those who believe they may have a spiritual gift to find someone with the same gifting and calling and not leave their side. You cannot receive the double portion of the anointing as Elisha if you ignore the knowledge of God’s appointed Elijah for you.

“Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.”And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?’

“Elisha said, ‘Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.’So he said, ‘You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so'” (2 Kings 2:8-10).

Your teachings help restore my trust for God. I love your boldness for God’s word you receive. You said, when God speaks we need not to help him rather he will fulfill his word at the appointed time also if God really speaks, it will come to pass. I was losing confidence in prophecies until I read your interview. The teachings become so real with sharing experiences. Just that sometimes you promise continuation the following week but we do not see it rather different topic.

This is my personal request. Please, aside the CD’s on prophetic training that some of us cannot acquire due to lack of pay pal in our country, give us teaching through the e letter. We are hungry for his direction that is why personal prophecy column is flooded.

What is Prophetic Counseling?

There is a difference between receiving Prophetic Counseling vs. Personal Prophecy.

When giving prophetic guidance and counseling it helps to know more about the person. The difference is when you receive a prophetic word from God He is telling you what He wants to say. When I am ministering in prophetic counseling He is giving me answers to what you need to know and what to do in order to receive the results you are looking for. When emailing or visiting over the phone most of the time God gives me the answers within seconds, if they are warranted questions. My understanding of this scripture below is different than what the Word of Faith movement taught me:
Matthew 18:20
“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
